The Stove
The operation of the gas stovetop is easy. Using a match or the lighter, hold an open flame over the burner you intend to light and turn on the gas. Voila!
If you use a match, please make sure the match is out before you deposit it in the trash, and PLEASE make sure the gas is turned off when you are done using the burner(s).
The Oven
The oven is a little bit trickier to light, so please follow the directions carefully.
- Make sure the oven control knob on the left side of the stove is in the off position.
- Open the oven door.
- Using a match or the lighter, hold an open flame over the hole in the front center of the oven floor.
- Please do not stick the match or lighter into the hole!
- At the same time, push the oven control knob in and turn it counterclockwise to the maximum setting.
- Keep the oven control knob pushed in for a minimum of five seconds; you should be able to see the oven burner light by looking in the hole in the front center of the oven floor.
- When the oven burner is on, release the oven control knob.
- If the oven burner goes out, go back to Step 3 and try again.
- To regulate the temperature, turn the oven control knob to the desired temperature setting.
- Keep an eye on what you are cooking, as this isn’t your mother’s (or even your own) oven. It can be a bit wonky!

Safety Note
Please make sure you turn the gas off using the control knobs on the stove when you are done using the stove or oven. If you smell gas, make sure the windows and doors are open and vacate the apartment. Turn the gas off at the tank (turn the knob counter-clockwise) and call Mike and Marie or Tom and Sue.
